Strong Cultural Showcases Mark JS Institute of Design’s Vibrant Northeastern Day

New Delhi, 10 March 2025: JS Institute of Design (JSID), a new-age design institute in New Delhi, successfully hosted its event “North Eastern Day: Echoes of the North East”. Attended by 75 students, faculty members, and guests, the event aimed to promote inclusivity and celebrate the unique traditions, music, and art of the North East. The institute’s campus was transformed into a vibrant cultural hub, with students, faculty, and staff coming together to participate in the celebration.
Diversity and inclusion have become significant in the higher education domain, especially design education. In a diverse campus, students have the opportunity to interact with individuals from various cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds. According to NASSCOM, the design sector in India is expected to generate over 6 million jobs by 2025, highlighting the importance of comprehensive skills such as cultural competence, problem-solving, and teamwork for success in the industry.
Emphasizing the importance of diversity and inclusivity in design institutes, Nien Siao, Dean at JS Institute of Design, stated, “Fostering a diverse learning environment is crucial in design education. It enriches the learning experience, broadens perspectives, and cultivates essential skills like critical thinking, empathy, and cultural competence. At JSID, we prioritize diversity and inclusivity, preparing students to thrive in a globalized world. By developing cultural competence, students become more adaptable, creative, and competitive in the job market, excelling in multinational teams, cross-cultural interactions, and international projects.”
The event showcased student talent through a diverse cultural program featuring music, dance, and art performances, complemented by insightful talks on design.
JSID offers cutting-edge programs in Visual Communication, Game Art & Design, and UI/UX Design and Animation & Motion Design. The design curriculum offered is up to date with industry trends, cultivating students with a user-centric perspective, innovative thinking, and technologically advanced skills. Through a range of career-focused initiatives, students get the opportunity to develop and test their ideas, preparing them for success in an exponentially growing design market.

  • Genespire and SR-TIGET Show Durable Preclinical Efficacy of Liver-Directed Gene Therapy for Methylmalonic Acidemia

Milan, Italy, July 08 — Genespire, in collaboration with researchers at the San Raffaele Telethon Institute for Gene Therapy (SR-TIGET), has today announced the publication of preclinical data supporting the potential of its liver-directed immune-shielded lentiviral gene therapy approach to treat methylmalonic acidemia (MMA), a severe inherited metabolic disorder. The findings, published in the Journal of Hepatology, show that a single systemic administration of a lentiviral vector encoding the MMUT gene led to sustained improvements in disease features in a validated mouse model of MMA, with effects lasting for the average lifespan of laboratory mice. Since the mice were treated when young, the study supports the durability of the gene therapy through postnatal growth and maturation of the liver. MMA is caused by a deficiency of methylmalonyl-CoA mutase, an enzyme that plays a critical role in the body’s metabolism of food. Its absence results in the accumulation of toxic metabolites that lead to recurrent metabolic crises, growth failure, neurological impairment, and multi-organ damage. In the study, researchers also treated mice with a dose containing an optimized MMUT transgene, thereby improving therapeutic efficacy. In the same mouse model of MMA, this…
