20th July 2024- Anand Tiwari’s latest film, Bad Newz, featuring Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri, Ammy Virk, and Neha Dhupia, hit theatres this Friday. The film opened to a strong start at the box office, earning approximately ₹8.50 crore on its first day, according to reports from Sacnilk. The movie enjoyed a commendable 22.83% Hindi occupancy on its release day, July 19.
Adding to the film’s charm, Vicky Kaushal’s song from the romantic comedy, “Tauba Tauba,” recently went viral, creating a buzz among fans and contributing to the film’s initial success. Bad Newz also features cameo appearances by actors Ananya Panday and Neha Sharma, adding star power to the ensemble cast.
The story of Bad Newz delves into the intriguing concept of heteropaternal superfecundation, following the journey of a chef named Saloni Bagga (played by Triptii Dimri). Saloni becomes pregnant with twins from two different men, portrayed by Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk, leading to a series of comedic events and misunderstandings.
Despite opening to mixed reviews, the film’s unique storyline and stellar cast have managed to capture audience interest. The film, produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Amritpal Singh Bindra, and Anand Tiwari, is reminiscent of the 2019 hit Good Newwz, which revolved around the chaos of an in-vitro fertilization mix-up.
Vicky Kaushal’s performance as a brash and rash West Delhi momma’s boy stands out, with his energetic portrayal anchoring the film’s comedic tone. His commitment to the role brings depth to the character, balancing the film’s humour and emotional beats.
Bad Newz marks another collaborative success for the production team and is expected to continue drawing audiences in the coming days. The film’s opening day collection sets a positive tone for its box office run, positioning it as a potential hit in the making.
