India is a strategic partner for sharing the next phase of higher education: CBU President and VC Dingwall

The session was addressed by President & Vice-Chancellor David C. Dingwall, who underscored CBU’s commitment to creating structured, accessible pathways for Indian students. With a diverse campus representing over 70 countries and more than 60 areas of study, CBU offers a close-knit, globally connected learning environment tailored for the next generation of professionals. The delegation is actively seeding institutional collaborations and MOUs to formalise mobility frameworks between India and Canada.

“India is fast emerging as a global powerhouse of talent and innovation, making it a strategic partner in shaping the next phase of higher education. This visit reflects our intent to build high-impact, future-focused collaborations that go beyond traditional academic exchange. At Cape Breton University, our primary focus is to create meaningful pathways for student success in Canada by equipping them with the right education, practical exposure, and industry readiness. We are committed to preparing students for the future, giving them the means, confidence, and support systems to thrive academically, professionally, and personally in a global environment,” said David C. Dingwall, President & Vice-Chancellor, Cape Breton University.

The delegation, spanning six cities, Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad, marks one of CBU’s most significant outreach efforts in India to date.

Key Takeaways From The Meeting:

Strategic Institutional Partnerships

During the visit, CBU is engaging with leading Indian academic institutions including BML Munjal University, Parul University, Navrachna University, and LJ University. These collaborations signal CBU’s intent to build deep, long-term institutional linkages across India’s higher education landscape — not merely transactional exchanges, but co-created academic ecosystems.

Bridging Academia, Industry & Policy

The delegation’s engagements extend beyond academia. President Dingwall is scheduled to meet with the National Economic Forum and the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Telangana — a strategic move to align CBU’s academic agenda with economic policy priorities and emerging industry needs in India. These high-level conversations reinforce CBU’s vision of an education ecosystem that is responsive, relevant, and globally connected.

Research, Innovation & Knowledge Exchange

Beyond student mobility, CBU is seeking to initiate joint research programs and knowledge exchange initiatives that leverage the intellectual capital of both nations. The university’s emphasis on experiential learning, co-ops, and industry-aligned programs positions it as a natural partner for India’s aspiration to build research-led, future-ready universities.
