As stories around justice, morality, and systemic power continue to resonate with audiences, Prime Video’s System is gearing up to bring a layered and emotionally charged narrative to the screen. Led by Sonakshi Sinha, the film explores how access to justice can shift depending on where one stands in society, while also diving deep into the emotional complexities of its characters. For Sonakshi, the project stood out not only because of its world and themes, but also because of the depth of the character she plays.
Speaking about her character and its world in the film, Sonakshi shared, “What stayed with me the most was Neha as a character, she’s layered, she’s flawed, and she’s constantly evolving. And then the world of the film, it feels very real and relevant. The questions it raises about access to justice and how differently it can look depending on where you stand in society, and that’s what really pulled me in.”
Over the years, Sonakshi has steadily moved towards roles that push her beyond conventional spaces, from commercial entertainers to more emotionally intense and morally layered characters. Reflecting on that evolution, Sonakshi said, “I think it’s been a very organic journey. Dabangg was my introduction, Akira allowed me to explore a very physical and intense space, and System is far more internal and layered. Over time, I’ve been drawn to characters that challenge me in different ways, and right now I’m really enjoying exploring roles that have emotional depth and moral complexity.”
Created and directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and produced under the banner of Baweja Studios, System features Sonakshi Sinha, Jyotika, and Ashutosh Gowariker in lead roles. The upcoming Original movie is set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video across India and in over 240 countries and territories worldwide on May 22, 2026.
