June 08: Rupa Publications recently announced the release of Itihaas: A Performance Model for Modern Leadership, a debut book by senior business leader and scriptural strategist Sridhar Rammurthy. The book released on 5th June and is available across leading bookstores and online platforms nationwide.

Deeply inspired from the strategic and psychological insights of the Mahabharata, Ramayana, and the Bhagavad Gita, Itihaas is a book about why leaders fail due to challenges from within and not from a lack of knowledge or capability. In today’s world of constant information overload, urgency, and complexity, leaders often find themselves knowing what to do but unable to act with clarity or conviction. Itihaas argues that this is not a modern problem. It is a human one, and India’s great epics have been documenting it for centuries.

Author Sridhar Rammurthy said, “For thousands of years, Bharatiya civilization has taught a radical idea: that human beings are most powerful not when they act against the natural order, but when they align with it. When structured effort and Dharma move together, success gains both direction and divine support. This book could be a step towards creating a Bharatiya Framework for Consulting organizations as well.”

At the heart of the book is the Itihaas Performance Model (IPM), a structured leadership framework that maps the complete inner psychological journey a leader must navigate, from reading a situation clearly and forming intent, to overcoming internal resistance and translating clarity into decisive action. The model draws on stories from the epics, including Arjuna’s paralysis on the battlefield at Kurukshetra, Hanuman rediscovering his own strength, and Rama’s strategic patience under pressure, and connects them to real-world scenarios from business and organisational life. The result is a framework that is both deeply Indian in its roots and universally applicable in its reach.

One of the book’s key differentiators is its emphasis on execution. The IPM translates timeless wisdom into practical tools and actionable frameworks that leaders and organisations can apply immediately, ensuring that insight is converted into measurable results rather than remaining a feel-good experience.

Itihaas: A Performance Model for Modern Leadership is published by Rupa Publications and is available at all major bookstores and on the Rupa Publications website.
