Actor Suhail Nayyar has joined the ensemble cast of Baara Number, Vir Das’ upcoming found-footage psychological horror film. The film also stars Sheeba Chaddha, Atul Kulkarni, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Arunoday Singh, Ahsaas Channa, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Puja Sarup and Naveen Kaushik, with production currently underway.
Known for building a quiet-versatile body of work across films, streaming and international projects, Suhail was widely appreciated for his dual role in Saare Jahan Se Accha. He also played a pivotal role in Single Papa which received love from the audiences. Suhail has often pushed boundaries to sink into the skin of any character he essays and with Baara Number, he steps into a darker, more unsettling genre space.
Speaking about the project, Suhail said,
“What excited me about Baara Number was how unpredictable the world felt. Found-footage horror has this raw, unfiltered energy. You can’t hide behind polish, there’re no safety nets and as an actor that is both terrifying and exciting. Vir has created a space that feels sharp, strange and alive, and being part of an ensemble like this pushed me into a zone I haven’t explored before. That’s the kind of discomfort I’m looking for at this stage, the good kind., haha”Suhail has been seen in titles such as Udta Punjab, Hotel Mumbai, Sharmaji Namkeen, Jee Karda, Murder Mubarak.
This film marks another distinct choice for Suhail, who continues to move between mainstream, character-driven, ensemble and international spaces.
