Homi Adajania Reflects on the First Anniversary of Disney+ Hotstar's 'Saas Bahu aur Flamingo

Ever since the ladies of Disney+ Hotstar’s Saas Bahu aur Flamingo entered the world of patriarchy with all guns blazing, badassery got a whole new meaning! Celebrating a year to a show that introduced a strong matriarch leading one of the most dangerous businesses, Saas Bahu aur Flamingo left a raging mark on the critics as well as the audiences. Having one ‘never-seen-before’ moment after the other, the series featured the evergreen Dimple Kapadia in the most deadly avatar possible along with a fresh ensemble – Radhikka Madan, Angira Dhar, Isha Talwar and Deepak Dobriyal bringing the menacing world of flamingos! Directed by the ace filmmaker Homi Adajania and produced by Maddock Films, Saas Bahu aur Flamingo is streaming exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar.

Celebrating the first anniversary of Disney+ Hotstar’s Saas Bahu aur Flamingo, director Homi Adajania said, “It’s been a year! Wow! I love the idea of presenting strong women whose existence holds the promise of chaos against the very system that has oppressed them. Vulnerable, complicated, but at the core these characters are the warriors of Saas, Bahu aur Flamingo.”

Adding further he said, “Dimple (Kapadia) has been in all my projects, but I honestly believe as the matriarch Savitri, she showcased her best work till date! Surrounding her with a stellar, eclectic cast like Radhikka Madan, Angira Dhar and Isha Talwar made it all the more exciting. There are too many others to mention, but I promise you that every single person involved, from actors to technicians, added something magical to the project.”

Opening up on the overwhelming response to the show, Homi Adajania added, “When released, the way the show blew up was unexpected because we knew that we had created a world no one had seen before so the reaction was unpredictable. Till today I’m enthusiastically hounded for the next season!”
