“I tried to live their truth as deeply as I could”: Ishwak Singh reveals what went into prepping for his role in Amazon MX Player’s Mitti

Mumbai, July 24, 2025: Some stories aren’t just watched, they’re felt. Mitti, the new inspirational drama on Amazon MX Player, Amazon’s free video streaming service, offers one such heartfelt story. Set in the fictional village of Dol Chappra, the show evocatively portrays what it means to return home, not just to a place, but to the people, choices, and a version of yourself you may have outgrown after moving away. Boasting Ishwak Singh, Shruti Sharma, Diksha Juneja, Yogendra Tiku, and Alka Amin in key roles, Mitti follows Raghav, a city-dweller forced to return to his ancestral land, and Kratika, a grounded, strong-willed local officer trying to rebuild what’s broken.

For both Ishwak Singh and Shruti Sharma, the shoot became a rare invitation to slow down, listen closely, and step into unfamiliar but honest lives.

Recalling his prep to get into the skin of his character, Ishwak shared, “Although we didn’t get many opportunities to interact with farmers, I did speak to a few locals, read articles, and watched documentaries, especially about farming, migration, and what it means to return home. I wanted to understand the crisis, the heartbreak, and the resilience. Even if not firsthand, I tried to live their truth as deeply as I could.”

For Shruti, who plays Kratika, the connection was more personal. She highlighted“We were shooting in and around my hometown, which already made it special. But what stayed with me were moments like walking on muddy village roads or being invited to a villager’s home for lunch. They didn’t know me but welcomed me as if I belonged. These were beautiful experiences I got to live because of Kratika and the show.”

Mitti is now streaming for free on Amazon MX Player, available on mobile, Connected TVs, the Amazon shopping app, Prime Video, Fire TV, and Airtel Xstream.
