Actress Dipshikkha Nagppak on the Grueling Work Hours in Acting: “12 to 14 Hours a Day is Normal”

When people think about the entertainment industry, they often picture the glitz, glamour, and red carpets. But behind the dazzling lights and beautiful outfits lies immense hard work, dedication, and challenges that actors face every day. Dipshikkha Nagppal, who plays Devi Sahay in Ishq Jabariya on Sun Neo, sheds light on the lesser-known struggles of being an actor.

Dipshikkha Nagppal shares, “People only see the glamorous side of the entertainment industry. They think, “Oh wow, you get to go to events, you get so many things.” But they don’t see the hard work behind it. Especially in television, we work for 12 hours a day, sometimes even 14 hours. We travel to far-off locations in remote areas as I travel so far for my current Sun Neo’s show Ishq Jabariya, shoot for hours, and still have to look fresh on screen. There is immense pressure because episodes must be telecast on time.”

The Ishq Jabariya actress further shares an experience from her past project, “Let me give you an example forget TV for a moment. We were shooting for Koyla in the coal mines. There was no phone network and no proper facilities. The entire unit would wake up at 4 AM, travel to the location, and work in extreme conditions. There weren’t even proper places to sleep. I still remember Shahrukh Khan used to sleep on the coal-extracting machine with just a pillow. We were like highly paid laborers! It was extremely tough work.”

Ishq Jabariya, airing on Sun Neo at 7:30 PM, is an engaging love story centred around Gulki, a determined young woman with big aspirations. The show boasts a stellar cast, including Kamya Panjabi, Dipshikkha Nagppal, Siddhi Sharma, and Lakshay Khurana in key roles, bringing depth and emotion to this captivating narrative.
