Muddenahalli, Karnataka May 07: In a significant boost to rural healthcare excellence, the Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research has been awarded EntryLevel Accreditation by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers.

This prestigious recognition affirms that SMSIMSR meets essential national standards in patient safety, quality care, and hospital management systems. It marks a major milestone for one of India’s first fully free rural medical colleges and hospitals.

“Out of the nearly 80,000 to 90,000 hospitals in the country, only about 1.4% have achieved full accreditation, while around 3% hold EntryLevel accreditation. When it comes to hospitals that offer completely free medical services, their number can be counted on one’s fingers,” said Dr. Padmashree, Medical Superintendent of SMSIMSR.

She further added, “Under the guidance of Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai, the institute is adhering to all the standards required for NABH accreditationEntryLevel accreditation is only the first step, and we are confident of achieving full NABH accreditation in the near future.”

Speaking about the institution’s long-term vision, she said, “Our mission, under the leadership of Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai, is to provide completely free, world-class healthcare services to the poor and underserved, as part of the ‘One World One Family’ initiative.”

A Landmark for RuralFree Healthcare

Located in the heart of rural Karnataka, SMSIMSR has been redefining healthcare delivery by offering completely free, high-quality medical services to underserved communities. Achieving NABH EntryLevel Accreditation places the institution among hospitals committed to structured, safe, and standardized care.

This accomplishment is particularly noteworthy as many hospitals—especially in rural settings—face challenges in implementing formal quality frameworks. SMSIMSR’s success demonstrates that world-class standards and compassionate, free healthcare can go hand in hand.

What the Accreditation Signifies

The NABH EntryLevel Accreditation confirms that SMSIMSR has successfully implemented:

•           Robust patient safety protocols

•           Effective infection control practices

•           Standardized clinical and administrative procedures

•           Ethical and transparent patient care systems

•           Structured documentation and monitoring mechanisms

These systems ensure that every patient receives safe, consistent, and accountable care aligned with national benchmarks.

Strengthening Medical Education

As a teaching institution, SMSIMSR’s accreditation also enhances the quality of medical education. Students are trained in an environment that emphasizes evidence-based clinical practices, standard operating procedures, and patient-centric care models.

A Step Towards Higher Excellence

EntryLevel NABH Accreditation serves as a foundation for full NABH accreditation, which involves more comprehensive and advanced standards. SMSIMSR is now poised to further strengthen its systems and expand its quality initiatives in the coming years.

Advancing the ‘One World One Family’ Vision

This milestone reflects a broader humanitarian vision of delivering equitable healthcare for all, regardless of socio-economic background. By combining free services with nationally recognized quality standards, SMSIMSR is setting a powerful example for healthcare institutions across India and beyond.
