Directed by Akashaditya Lama and produced by Satish Pande, Rishabh Pande, and Akashaditya Lama, “Bengal 1947” was released on March 29th.

Sharing about the kind of response the film is getting, he states, “The film is generating a phenomenal response among young audiences, who are captivated by the love story between Shabri and Mohan. Interestingly, this generation, accustomed to finding love through dating apps, finds the old-fashioned romance in the film deeply personal and relatable.”

He further adds, “This is mine and Rishabh’s (who is a documentary filmmaker) debut feature film as a producer, and the overwhelming response we’ve received is a true testament to our success as storytellers. I’m incredibly grateful to the entire team for their unwavering support throughout this incredible filmmaking journey. While niche cinema can be challenging, it allows us to create films that make a difference, bringing important societal values to the forefront and sparking meaningful conversations. I have not made this film for commercial purposes or to make money but for people to know about our history. I’ve been on International Film Festival Jury for the last 5 years and I always wanted to make a film on a very different subject.”

In his words, here’s what makes “Bengal 1947” a must-watch:”This film is an opportunity to celebrate our country’s culture and connect with our roots. Our history is a valuable asset, and understanding and learning from it is essential. Today’s youth are heavily influenced by international cultures. This film aims to raise awareness about the richness and depth of Indian culture and heritage, offering a unique perspective that can inspire the world.”

Looking ahead, he mentions his desire to create content focused on development. “We have a production house named COMFED,” he says, “which has primarily focused on development ideas for the past four decades. Our future content will explore uncharted territories within India.”

The film cast includes Devoleena Bhattacharjee, Sohaila Kapur, Omkar Das Manikpuri, Aditya Lakhia, Anil Rastogi, Pramod Pawar, Ankur Armam, Surabhi Srivastava, Falaq Rahi, Vikram TDR and Atul Gangwar. The musical score is composed by Abhishek Ray.
