Villa Pauli Unveils St. Nobl and Contemporary Club Experience Blending Heritage with Modern Lifestyle

May, 16 : Villa Pauli has officially unveiled its highly anticipated new addition in Djursholm outside Stockholm, marking a transformative new chapter for one of Sweden’s most historic waterfront estates. Opening on May 15, 2026, the expansion redefines Villa Pauli as a fully realised lifestyle destination where gastronomy, wellbeing, design, culture, and social experiences converge.

At the heart of the launch is St. Nobl, a new oceanfront restaurant concept designed as a vibrant social destination blending Mediterranean influences with Scandinavian seasonality. Alongside the restaurant, the new addition introduces rooftop terraces, a wellness club, spa facilities, a pool environment, ocean-view tennis court, hospitality spaces, and immersive members’ experiences  all carefully integrated into the estate’s historic landscape.

Originally established in 1907 and designed by renowned Swedish architect Ragnar Östberg, Villa Pauli has long occupied a distinctive place within Swedish cultural life. Shaped by the artistic legacy of Georg Pauli, the estate has historically served as a meeting point between architecture, craftsmanship, and social culture.

With approximately 1,600 square metres of newly developed space  contributing to a total of around 4,000 square metres dedicated to members  the expansion introduces a contemporary members’ universe that balances heritage with international lifestyle sensibilities.

During early Autumn 2026, Villa Pauli will further expand with the launch of three private hotel suites, adding a more intimate residential dimension to the estate.

“With this new chapter, our ambition has been to create something that feels larger than a traditional members’ club or restaurant. Villa Pauli is envisioned as a living destination where gastronomy, culture, wellbeing, and social experiences come together in an environment that feels both internationally inspired and deeply connected to the history and character of the estate,” said Wendela Wennström.

Contemporary Architecture Rooted in Heritage

The architectural vision behind the expansion was led by architect Jonas Glock, whose approach focused on introducing “a contemporary layer in time” while preserving the emotional and architectural identity of the original estate.

Significant preservation regulations surrounding original interiors and murals required a delicate balance between restoration and innovation. New functions expected from a modern international members’ destination — including wellness, hospitality, and dining facilities — were integrated discreetly into the surrounding landscape.

One of the project’s most ambitious architectural interventions is the Villa Pauli Wellness Club and gym, which has been embedded beneath the rebuilt ocean-view tennis court to preserve the visual integrity of the estate grounds.

“Historic buildings should never become frozen in time,” said Jonas Glock. “The ambition was to add something unmistakably contemporary while allowing the original villa to remain the emotional and architectural heart of the estate.”

Large glass façades, handcrafted brickwork, restored stone detailing, and carefully reinterpreted historical materials create a dialogue between permanence and modernity while dissolving the boundaries between architecture, landscape, and social life.

Interiors Inspired by a Fictional Muse

The interiors, designed by SPIK Studios under the creative direction of Nina Glendinning, move beyond traditional Scandinavian minimalism in favour of a more cinematic and emotionally layered aesthetic.

Inspired by the imagined personality of a worldly and elegant fictional muse, the interiors combine jewel-toned velvets, dark oak, limestone flooring, brass details, mirrored surfaces, contemporary artworks, and hand-painted murals to create immersive spaces designed to reveal themselves gradually over time.

“We wanted the spaces to feel immersive and emotionally charged,” said Nina Glendinning. “There are hidden references throughout — in the textiles, the artwork, even in the shapes of the furniture. It should feel personal and atmospheric, never anonymous.”

Nature and the surrounding waterfront environment also play a central role throughout the interiors, with hand-painted wallpapers, sculptural greenery, and carefully positioned seating designed to enhance light, perspective, and connection to the sea.

St. Nobl Introduces a New Culinary and Social Destination

Serving as the social centrepiece of the expansion, St. Nobl introduces a dynamic gastronomic experience shaped as much by atmosphere and energy as by cuisine.

The restaurant unfolds across interconnected indoor and outdoor environments including an atrium dining room, cocktail bar, waterfront terraces, and poolside seating areas accommodating approximately 100 guests. The culinary concept blends Mediterranean influences with Scandinavian precision and seasonal ingredients.

Designed to evolve throughout the day, St. Nobl transitions from relaxed daytime dining into an intimate and cinematic evening atmosphere.

Its interiors embrace a bold expression featuring velvet, marble, Murano glass chandeliers, mirrored surfaces, richly textured fabrics, and carefully layered lighting designed to encourage movement, interaction, and discovery.

“Nothing in St. Nobl is minimalist,” added Nina Glendinning. “It’s intentionally bold, glamorous, and layered with personality. We wanted every seat, every detail, and every transition between spaces to feel like its own small experience.”

A New Nordic Members’ Lifestyle Experience

Beyond gastronomy, the expansion introduces a holistic wellbeing and social lifestyle offering through the Villa Pauli Wellness Club. The facilities include saunas, steam rooms, treatment spaces, cold immersion experiences, and a fully equipped Technogym fitness environment focused equally on recovery, performance, and community.

The outdoor experience is complemented by rooftop sun terraces, a serene pool environment, and an ocean-view tennis court built to international standards with a dedicated players’ lounge overlooking the waterfront.

Rooted in Swedish heritage while shaped by global influences, Villa Pauli’s transformation positions the estate as a contemporary Nordic members’ destination where architecture, gastronomy, wellbeing, design, and culture seamlessly intersect.

As Stockholm continues to evolve as an international cultural capital, Villa Pauli’s new addition creates a destination where past and present coexist — and where Scandinavian heritage meets a new generation of global lifestyle experiences.
